State regulators today require cutting edge technologies and solutions to meet the challenges of regulating an ever changing market and ensure high-end consumer protection and services. While some regulators have made decisions to get a modern solution, others are evaluating to upgrade or shift to emerging solutions to remain competitive and integrated with national regulatory initiatives and the industry.
Aithent has used its vast experience to build regulatory solutions and a team of highly skilled professionals with a total of 200+ person years of experience in servicing the regulatory industry. Aithent provides solutions to every need of the license and permit regulators from COTS solutions, custom development, re-engineering and consulting.
Experience
Aithent has a strong track record in the electronic licensing space beginning in 1995 when Aithent started working with New York State Insurance Department (NYSID) in the development of LION (LIcensing ONline), a licensing solution to support the different licenses issued by an insurance department. NYSID continues to use the solution today and the solution is supported by Aithent staff. In addition to New York, the state of Arkansas also uses LION.
In 2001, Aithent initiated the development of LEO (Licensing Environment Online), a generic web-based, workflow enabled, licensing solution. National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), a voluntary organization of the chief insurance regulatory officials of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, in 2002 licensed LEO for use within the insurance regulatory market. Today LEO is deployed under the NAIC branding of SBS (State-Based Systems) in six states including Rhode Island and is used to address licensing, consumer services, enforcement, revenue management and other functions. Another 6 states have selected SBS and are in varying stages of implementation – over 28% of the US insurance licensing market uses Aithent.
In 2007, New York State selected Aithent to build a solution for its regulatory needs. The solution has been partially deployed in New York State with complete deployment scheduled for Q3 2008.
Aithent is committed to this market and has invested in the development of the next generation solution, Aithent LICensing System or ALS which has evolved from LEO and still utilizes its competencies at the core with additional services around it. Over the past three years, Aithent has worked very closely with NAIC to help with the deployment of our licensing solution in 7 states. Aithent also developed SIMBA, a new licensing solution for the State of Washington on Microsoft .Net technology. SIMBA is deployed and Aithent continues to support the solution and is currently developing online licensing services for the state.
With over 200 person years of effort in the licensing arena alone, Aithent has significant experience working with multiple states, multiple license types, and multiple workflows; this knowledge and experience will be used to ensure a successful implementation for Rhode Island.
